PTO
Dear Parents,
Welcome new students and families, as well as our returning families! It is always with mixed emotions that we wrap up summer and begin a new school year. I hope you are all rested and refreshed and ready for a great 2011-2012!
Every fall our children “start over” in a new classroom with a new teacher and hopefully new resolve to make this year even better than the last. We too should challenge ourselves this way. For us, every year presents new opportunities to get involved in our Nativity community. Our children are blessed by the embrace of a nurturing circle of faith, kindness, and generosity that begins with each of YOU. When each of us works together with teachers, staff, and fellow parents we strengthen this amazing circle.
My husband and I talk about “stacking the deck” for our kids. We want to do everything we can to give them all the tools possible to be a good person and to fulfill God’s unique plan for them. With the help of our Nativity community, we feel confident our kids are learning to utilize these tools to succeed at whatever they do. The important work of our PTO committees and activities helps “stack the deck” for all our children every day! Please stop by the PTO Committee Sign-Up area at Quick Visits. There are still many opportunities to help. Words can’t express how grateful we are for the time and energy volunteers have given and continue to give, to our school and children. Please join our volunteer team and see for yourself!
Last year, PTO introduced new projects like Trivia Night, a very successful parish-wide Fun Run, and a redesign of our Student Stewardship program. In the 2011-2012 school year, we hope to implement new software to make signing up to volunteer easier. We will also be launching the Scrip program (details inside this packet), which will allow us to fund more educational resources in the classroom. There will be one evening PTO meeting each semester this year, giving families two additional opportunities to check out our PTO board in action. Plus, don’t forget ALL are welcome to attend regular PTO meetings, which are at 8:15 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. You can find us in the Adult Education Room in the Parish Hall. Should you have input for the PTO board, simply contact the designated VP no later than the Friday preceding the monthly meeting.
Listed below is a calendar of some of upcoming PTO events. In this packet, you will also find detailed information regarding the PTO’s annual fees. Please fill out the PTO fees form and bring it along with you to Quick Visits, on Monday, August 15th.
Many Thanks,
Susan Black
